Oral photodynamic therapy – Light PDT 630 – is a therapy protocol that utilizes 630nm red light combined with different light guide tips and photosensitizers to target and kill oral pathogens.
PDT is also called LAD Light-activated disinfection for non-invasive antimicrobial photodynamic therapy.
The photosensitizer absorbs energy from specific wavelengths of light and releases this energy as reactive oxygen species (ROS). Because the photosensitizer binds to the surface of bacteria, the ROS can instantly kill the bacteria.
